Guitar amplifier Building Course

Build your own hand-wired tube amplifier

Check out the amps available for the course !!

If you’re passionate about your music, and are up for a challenge, why not consider making your own amplifier. You don’t have to be an electrical engineer, if you’re generally practical you’ll be able to follow the instructions and build a great sounding amp.

So many famous brand amps on the market now are built using poor construction techniques, like mounting tubes directly onto printed circuit boards. All the designs we use are hand-wired on eyeletted circuit boards – takes time but your amp will last and last, and sounds so good.

Depending on the chosen amp model, the course takes two to four Saturdays. Before taking the course, participants choose which amp they want to make. We offer several amplifier kits to choose from, including speakers and cabinets. When you have another amp in mind, contact us to check what the possibilities are.

The first day starts with some theoretical basics: relevant background in electronics, tube technology, circuit testing, safety etc. The same day you start building your own amp. The aim is during the course to completely construct an amp under expert instruction. At the end of the course, the student will possess a customized, hand-built, point-to-point wired amp of high quality – all at a very reasonable price.

Floris Elfring, who is an electronics expert and has been building amps for many years, will be running the course. He generally works with two to four pupils at a time, ensuring enough individual guidance can be given.

Your amp will be housed in a well-constructed cabinet, provided to you at the course.

The course is run on Saturdays from 9 to 16h at our factory in Broek op Langedijk. For the next course date, see the ‘Amp Building Course’-section on our website.

The overall price depends on the chosen amplifier model. Prices include the amplifier kit, use of tools and equipment, expert instruction and lunch.

If for some reason the amp is not completed during the course, support will be given to ensure it is finished.
